Circular knife Sharpening machine
When resharpening industrial circular knives (such as circular cutting knives, slitting knives, bottom circular knives), safety, precision, efficiency, and tool life are required.
1. Control precision and quality, maintain angular accuracy
◦ Ensure upper and lower blade surfaces are parallel with uniform thickness.
◦ Keep the cutting edge sharp.
◦ Radial runout and end face runout must be within tolerance to prevent burrs.
◦ For slitting knives, cutting stability and material surface cutting quality require high consistency in the outer diameter of the same group.
2. Grind in stages, gradually refine
It is recommended to follow the sequence of 'rough grinding → fine grinding'. Rough grinding removes most of the material, while fine grinding achieves a sharp cutting edge and smooth surface, avoiding over-heating or annealing of the cutting edge caused by single-stage grinding.
3. Sharpening for different blade materials
◦ High-speed steel (HSS) circular knives
Have good toughness but are sensitive to grinding temperature. Cooling must be strictly controlled to prevent the cutting edge from annealing and softening.
◦ Tungsten Carbide circular knives
Have high hardness and wear resistance but are brittle. Diamond grinding wheels must be used, and grinding pressure and speed must be controlled to prevent micro-cracks that could lead to chipping.
